I am Dennis and I live in Kolkata – the city of joy. I like motorbikes, have taken part in races with my friends in Kolkata, and in my leisure time I cook for my wife, Mariamma. I have served as a Youth Pastor and also worked as an Accountant and in HR for companies and NGOs, but I came to work for Pursuit International in the most incredible way.

Just like any normal day, I was heading towards my office which was located in the Red Light District – one of the biggest areas in the world for prostitution, where I was working to bring hope to these women. Before I reached my office, I saw a young woman – around the age of 24 – very ill and laid on the footpath. There was no one to be seen around her; everyone was crossing the road and passing her by.

As I saw the situation, I stopped my bike and went near her to see what her condition was. I quickly realised if she did not see a doctor soon then she would probably die on the street. So I started asking people about her and about her family, and I came to know that she was an orphan, completely alone, and she worked as part of the red light district. However, because she was ill and therefore couldn’t see any clients or earn any money, she had been thrown out on the street and had nobody to take care of her.

I realised the purpose of my life: to devote all of my time in ushering young people onto the path of HOPE.

I decided to take her to a hospital. I contacted the police and social workers of that area so that they could help me in this challenging situation, and we managed to get her to a hospital but she died there. In that moment I was broken down with excruciating pain because I had wanted to share the Greatest Hope of life to her, but on this occasion I was too late.

Through this experience I discovered myself, and I realised the purpose of my life: to devote all of my time in ushering young people onto the path of HOPE, and to encourage them and to help them to achieve their goals and dreams. Life is so precious, and there are so many young people who are in especially vulnerable situations that make them helpless in society. So I made myself available for the purpose of serving young people in our community and that is what my passion was and is. It is my privilege and the aim of my life to be an usher who can stand beside young people and usher them into the fullness and hope of life, so that nothing can discourage them or stop them from growing.

Pursuit were searching for a person who could serve among the young people and stand beside them as their friend.

I looked for a platform from which I could usher and serve young adults in the most effective way, and my wife told me about the Rabiul Alam Momentum Project (RAMP). Run by Pursuit International, RAMP provides support to vulnerable young adults to help them achieve their goals and dreams in life with boldness and courage, where they are not held back by their situation and vulnerability within society. Mariamma also informed me that Pursuit were searching for a person who could serve among the young people and stand beside them as their friend.

I decided to approach Pursuit, so I met with Jane and we both were amazed to realise that our prayers were answered super-exceedingly! I was appointed as Project Developer and Mentor of RAMP and given the opportunity and privilege to serve our young people in Kolkata. My big dreams and aims are for RAMP to reach every state of our nation with this Greatest Hope of Life. I live the vision of RAMP and Pursuit every day by making myself available to our young people in our community, where I stand beside them to encourage them to pursue their goals with a positive attitude and boldness in the Greatest Hope.
